Perdido Key Fishing Charters

If you're staying on Perdido Key, the boat is close. Southwind Marina, 10121 Sinton Dr, is on the Perdido Key side of Pensacola, about 15 minutes from the Key. We run inshore and offshore trips from there every week of the season.

Fishing from Perdido Key

The bay and back-water trips on the 25' Blackjacks fish redfish, flounder and sheepshead close to home. They suit families, first-timers, and anyone who wants a four-hour morning rather than a full day. The offshore trips work structure for red snapper in season, amberjack, triggerfish, vermilion snapper and grouper, and the deep drop runs a full twelve hours.

A short morning or a full day

Three- and four-hour inshore trips fit around a beach day. Offshore runs five to ten hours, and the deep drop is twelve. Check the fishing calendar for what's in season during your stay.

Know the water

Big Lagoon is a five-mile lagoon west of Pensacola Bay, cut off from the Gulf by a thin strip of beach, and the Intracoastal Waterway runs through it. Southwind Marina sits on Big Lagoon, and the State Route 292 bridge onto the Key crosses it. The Key's east tip held Fort McRee, built from 1834 to 1839 and abandoned by Confederate forces in May 1862. Johnson Beach, in the seashore's Perdido Key Area, is named for Rosamond Johnson, a Pensacola native and the first Escambia County soldier killed in the Korean War, at 17. The dunes are home to the endangered Perdido Key beach mouse, and the Discovery Trail is an accessible boardwalk loop through salt marsh, wetland and dunes. At the west end, Perdido Pass runs between Florida Point and Alabama Point, and the Perdido River is the state line. NOAA's Coast Pilot advises "extreme caution" at the pass entrance.

Before you book

A $250 deposit or full payment holds your date. A captain makes the weather call before any balance is charged, and a weather cancellation means a new date, a credit, or a full refund of what you paid. Rates for every boat, what's included and what to bring are on the charters page.
