Why the day runs twelve hours

Deep dropping means fishing structure far enough out that the run is a real part of the day. Twelve hours is not padding — it is what it takes to get out to the depths this trip is built around, fish them properly, and get back in comfortably. The 35’ Contender is the boat with the range and the ride for it.

Who this trip suits

This is the biggest day we run and it rewards anglers who want the whole thing rather than a taste of it. It takes up to six, and it is worth being honest with yourself about a full twelve hours offshore before booking — if that sounds long, one of our shorter offshore trips will suit you better.

What we fish for on a deep drop

Deep structure well offshore holds fish inshore trips don't reach. Grouper is one of them — real deep-drop water, real bottom structure.

Deep drop or a standard offshore trip?

Our offshore trips run 5 to 10 hours on the 42' Yellowfin, the 35' Contender or the 25' Blackjacks — working structure and open water within a shorter window. The deep drop is a different trip: twelve hours, one boat, and a run to deeper bottom that a 5-to-10-hour trip doesn't have time to reach.

If you want a half-day or full-day out chasing a mix of what's biting, an offshore trip is the better fit — see everything that trip covers on our offshore fishing charters page. If you want the longest day on the water and the deepest water we fish, the deep drop on the 35' Contender with Capt. Rick is built for that.

Either way, the boat and the captain are the same standard: real crew, real dock, no rotating hands. Compare the two before you book, or call and we'll help you pick.

Questions we get about deep drop

Which boat runs the deep drop trip? The 35' Contender with Capt. Rick — that's the boat and captain for this trip today.

How many anglers can come? The rate covers 2 anglers, with a flat charge for each additional angler up to the boat's maximum of 6 — the same per-boat structure as every other trip on this site. See the Trip facts above for the exact breakdown.

How far offshore do we run? Our offshore trips run up to 25 miles from shore, per our FAQs. The deep drop pushes into deeper structure within that same range rather than a separate distance figure — we haven't published a distance specific to this trip.

What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate? Same rule as every trip we run: a captain makes the call, not a timer. See the weather line in the Trip facts block above.
